Storms in the North Atlantic
What can the analysis of the dplyr::storms data set reveal about the number of tropical storms per year that occurred in the North Atlantic between 1980 and 2022?
Let’s take a look decade by decade.
In the 1980’s the average number of tropical storms per year was 9.
The number of tropical storms per year kept increasing in the 1990’s with an average of 12.7.
The year 1995 saw a record number of 21 storms.
The increasing trend continued during the 2000’s, averaging 16.9 storms per year
With a jaw dropping record of 29 storms in 2005!
In the 2010’s the trend seemed to slow down a bit with an average number of storms per year of 16.3 …
… only to go up again
reaching a new all time high of 30 storms in 2020.
So what was the overall trend between 1980 and 2022?
